Al-Nasr Football Club in Dubai in the Emirates is the first Arab club to sign a contract with Israeli midfielder Dia Saba from Chinese Super League club Guangzhou RF. Saba has signed a two-year contract with the club in Dubai. It writes the newspaper Al-Arabiya.


The agreement was signed less than two weeks after Israel, the Emirates and Bahrain signed the historic Abrahamic Agreements on 15 September. Read MIFF’s articles about the agreements here.

– Al-Nasr has signed a contract with Dia Saba, the contract extends over two seasons after he passed the medical examinations, the Emirates’ Pro League club stated in a statement.

Saba is of Palestinian origin, he was born in Israel and began his professional career at Beitar Nes Tubruk before joining Maccabi Tel Aviv in 2012.

He was a superb player with Maccabi Petah Tikva, Maccabi Netanya and Hapoel Be’er Sheva, after which he moved to Guangzhou RF, where he scored 18 goals in 36 matches. He has won 10 national team matches for Israel.

Saba joins Cape Verde midfielders Ryan Mendes, Curacao Brandley Kuwas and Tuze as Al-Nasr’s foreign players.

Al-Nasr was sixth in the standings before the 2019-20 season was canceled due to Corona. The new season begins next month.
