The Israeli Institute of Biological Research says their Coroan vaccine will probably not be the first on the market, but they promise a safe and effective vaccine developed under the strictest regulations, writes the newspaper Yediot Ahronot.

The Israeli vaccine is scheduled to be ready during the summer of 2021. The Israeli vaccine, Brilife , was developed by the Israel Institute for Biological Research. Test trials on volunteer test subjects began on November 1st. 26-year-old Segev Harel was the first test person. 100 Israelis aged 18 to 55 will participate during Phase I. The vaccine is being tested at Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer and Hadassah-University Medical Center Ein Kerem in Jerusalem.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz visited Harel at Sheba Medical Center.

– I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Corona vaccine is the way out of the Corona crisis, Netanyahu said.

Netanyahu said they would make sure everyone had access to the vaccine, whether it was the Israeli or a vaccine from abroad that comes first. Gantz said that the Israelis must be patient and that it is a long process.

If Phase I goes as planned, an additional 960 volunteer test subjects will receive the vaccine. If phase II also goes according to plan, 30,000 volunteers will be tested in phase III, after which a larger test will take place in April / May.

Professor Shmuel Shapira, who heads the Israel Institute for Biological Research, says that the vaccine also will benefit the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza. Several of Israel’s neighbors have also shown interest in the vaccine.

– Several countries have shown interest in our work and we are preparing to make sure that our neighbors will benefit from the vaccine – this also applies to the West Bank and Gaza, says Professor Shapira.
