Secretary of Defense Naftali Bennett visited the laboratory in Ness Ziona on Monday and was briefed by the research team, which revealed the breakthrough with an antibody that attacks the Corona virus and neutralizes it in the body.
-I am proud of the staff at the biological institute that has made a major breakthrough. Jewish creativity and ingenuity have led to this amazing achievement, Secretary of Defense Bennett said after the visit.
IIBR is now working to patent the antibody and secure a commercial development contract. All legal procedures are coordinated with the Ministry of Defense.
The Biological Institute of Israel is also involved in collecting plasma from people who have recovered from Corona, in the hope that it can help research.
Another Israeli research team, MigVax, has also reported that they are in the process of completing the first phase of the development of a Corona vaccine. Last week, the company received over DKK 12 million. dollars in investment to accelerate clinical trials. MigVax is affiliated with the MIGAL Galilee Research Institute.
