Slovenia has decided to declare Hezbollah a terrorist organization, the Israeli Foreign Ministry reports. Slovenia thus joins Switzerland, Austria and Germany, which recently made the same decision, writes the newspaper Israel Hayom.

– I welcome the decision taken by the Slovenian Government to declare all parts of Hezbollah a terrorist organization. Slovenia’s decision joins similar decisions taken by other European and Latin American countries. Hezbollah is primarily harming the people of Lebanon and holding them hostage in the service of Iranian interests, says Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi.

The Slovenian government’s decision is another step in the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s efforts to increase international pressure on Hezbollah. Over the past year and a half, 16 countries have joined the list of countries that have declared Hezbollah and all its branches a terrorist organization. Nine countries have done so in the last six months.

The Israeli Foreign Minister calls on other countries and the rest of the EU to join the pressure on Hezbollah, to ban all their activities and to declare the organization and all its branches a terrorist organization.

Slovenia is the sixth EU country after the Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia to declare the Iran-backed terrorist organization a terrorist organization. Read MIFF’s articles on Hezbollah HERE.
