Crown Prince Haakon will represent Norway during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp at the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem on January 23, 2020, the Royal Family states.
Heads of state from more than 30 countries will attend “The Fifth World Holocaust Forum” in Jerusalem on January 23. Infinitum News has previously announced that Prince Charles will attend. Leaders from France, Russia, the United States and Germany will also attend and speak, according to Yad Vashem’s program. There will also be music and short films describing, among other things, the Nazis’ path to power, the Holocaust, liberation and modern anti-Semitism.
No members of the Norwegian royal family have previously paid an official visit to Israel. In 2014, the then President of Israel, Shimon Peres, paid a state visit to Norway.
The Norwegian Royal Family also announces that Crown Prince Haakon and Prime Minister Erna Solberg will represent Norway on the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on 27 January, which will be held in Auschwitz.
