Eden Alone, a 19-year-old woman from Kiryat Gat, will represent Israel at Eurovision 2020 in the Netherlands. It happens after Alone won the reality show «The Next Star». In Israel, the winner of the program will have the honor of representing the country at Eurovision. Alone won the competition with his own version of Beyonce’s “Halo” and Rhianna’s “Where Have You Been”, writes Ha’aretz.
-During the months I have participated in “The Next Star”, I am gone from being a girl with a dream to becoming an experienced singer. I would like to thank everyone who has voted for me and I promise to do my best to represent Israel with honor at Eurovision, said Alone after the victory.
Alone will be the first Ethiopian-Israeli to represent Israel at Eurovision.
“It is very important that Israel is represented for the first time by a daughter of the Ethiopian community,” said Rotem Sela.
Alone has been offered to sing in Amharic (Semitic language spoken in Ethiopia) at Eurovision, but it is not yet known which song she will represent Israel with. The song selection will be chosen in a TV show on March 3.
Israel has won Eurovision four times – most recently in 2018 in Portugal. Israel hosted Eurovision in 2019.
