On February 8, the Jerusalem Post published the latest poll before the Knesset election on March 23.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party dominates the poll with 30 seats. Naturalist support parties such as Shas (8), UTJ (7) and Religious Zionist Party (4) provide Netanyahu with a total of 49 Knesset representatives.

Yair Lapid’s party Yesh Atid has established itself as the largest opposition party in recent weeks’ opinion polls. In the latest poll, they get 18 seats. The other opposition parties that will not cooperate with Netanyahu are Gideon Sa’ar’s New Hope party (14), Israel Beiteinu (7), the Labor Party (5), Meretz (4) and Kakol Lavan (4). In total, the anti-Netanyahu coalition gets 52 seats.

The right-wing Yemina party, led by Naftali Bennet, won 11 seats in the poll. Thus, Bennett may end up being the tongue in cheek and crucial to whether Netanyahu gets a new term as prime minister. There are 120 representatives in the Knesset, and a new prime minister must have a majority of at least half of the representatives.

The Arab Party (Hareshimah Hameshutefet) gets 8 seats in the poll, but it is not expected that they will be included in a coalition government.

Following the recent Israeli election in March 2020, Bennett chose to stay out of Netanyahu’s government.
