Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has previously openly stated that in the secret peace talks cooperation/' target='_blank'>cooperation-with-israel/' target='_blank'>cooperation-with-israel/' target='_blank'>with Israel in 2007 and 2008, he rejected an almost full Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank. The areas in the West Bank that Israel wanted to keep had to be compensated with other land areas. You must remember this every time you hear about Israel’s occupation and unwillingness for a two-state solution, for great Norwegians – and Danes! – the media completely or almost completely conceals it.

As broadcast as December 1, 2018, Palestinian chief negotiator Saeb Erekat confirmed in a detailed interview on the official Palestinian TV channel PA TV . The Palestinians were offered more space for a state than is currently the case in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, control of the Arab districts of Jerusalem and the return of 150,000 refugees to Israel. Abbas said no!

Here’s what Erekat said word for word:

“I heard [former Israeli Prime Minister] Olmert say he offered [Abbas] 100% of the West Bank area. That’s true. I’m witnessing that. He [Olmert] showed a map [to Abbas] and said, “I want [Israel to get] 6.5 percent of the West Bank, and I want to give [the Palestinians] 6.5 percent of the territory in 1948 [= the territories of Israel. within 1949 armistice lines – also called the 1967 lines]. [Olmert] told Abbas: ‘The West Bank and Gaza Strip land area before June 4, 1967 was 6,235 square kilometers. Erekat says [Erekat said to Abbas]: “It is 50 square kilometers without land in Jerusalem and Latrun.” We will divide them between us so that the area is 6,260 km2. [I told Abbas:] Olmert will give you 20 square kilometers so you can say [to the Palestinians]: “I got more than the 1967 lines.” As for Jerusalem [Olmert said]: “What is Arab remains Arab and what is Jewish remains Jewish and we keep it as an open city… [Olmert] said: ‘The right of refugees to return to the state of Palestine is theirs. But when it comes to Israel, we are opening up to [a total of] 150,000 refugees over ten years, 15,000 [annually] over 10 years. “

The Palestinians have previously admitted the rejection of Olmert’s proposal in 2007-2008. If you want to immerse yourself (in English) in what has happened, we can recommend the following:
