The Israeli defense bombed a Syrian air defense battery on Monday night, which earlier in the day had fired at an Israeli fighter jet on a routine mission in Israeli airspace. According to Syrian sources, an officer and a soldier were killed in the Israeli retaliatory attack, writes Times of Israel.
According to the IDF, a missile was fired at an Israeli F-16 aircraft in northern Israel. The plane was not damaged in the attack and the missile is said to have landed in Syrian territory.
“The IDF takes all threats to our aircraft seriously and will do what is necessary to defend them,” the Israeli defense said in a statement after the incident.
