Palestinian terrorists in the Gaza Strip fired 21 rockets at southern Israel on Sunday. Half of the rockets were fired by the Iron Dome rocket defense, while the rest landed in uninhabited areas, writes Times of Israel.
According to the Israeli health authorities, there are no reports of injuries as a result of the rocket attacks, but several have been treated for shock. Tens of thousands of people had to run to safety.
The rocket alarm went off several times in the cities of Sderot and Ashkelon north of Gaza. The Palestinian terrorist group Islamic Jihad says they are behind the rocket attacks.
The rocket attacks come after Israeli soldiers earlier in the day shot and killed a terrorist from Islamic Jihad at the Gaza border. The terrorist mounted a bomb on the border fence against Israel when he was killed by Israeli forces.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett and heads of the Israeli security services are meeting tonight at Defense Headquarters to discuss how to handle the situation further.
