Late Thursday night, three rockets were fired from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel. Two of the rockets were fired by the Iron Dome rocket defense, while a third rocket landed in an uninhabited area, writes Times of Israel.
No one was directly injured by the rockets but a woman and her three-week-old infants were injured in the panic that followed. The woman fell and lost her child while trying to run to safety. The child has hit his head and received moderate injuries. The three-week-old infant is now being treated at Soroka Hospital in Beersheva. The mother was slightly injured.
There has been increased tension in southern Israel over the past two weeks. Also on Wednesday, a rocket was fired at Israel. In addition, there have been several cases of balloons with explosives in them that were sent in across the border from Gaza. One of the bombs was built into what looked like a wrapped gift. A Palestinian sniper has also fired at an IDF post at the border.
Both after Thursday’s attack and Wednesday’s attack, the Israeli defense has responded by bombing several Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.
