The 6-year-old boy was hit by fragments of the rocket had penetrated through the window in the family’s secured room. The rocket hit the housing block as the family lives in the city of Serot, close to Gaza, writes Times of Israel.

The boy’s mother is seriously injured, a third person is moderately wound, and three others are also injured.

Channel 12 reports that the rocket hit a home in an apartment complex, fragments from the rocket rikocheted to another home and managed to pierce the concrete reinforced room and hit the family.

In the picture below, the window appears as the fragments needed through. It is unclear how the fragments could penetrate when the window is secured by metal barrier. Therefore, it was speculated whether the window was not properly closed or whether there is a construction error of the secured room.
