During the opening of the AIPAC Conference 2020 in Washington, AIPAC Director Howard Kohr said that today there is an increased threat to the United States’ many years of cross-party support for Israel. He pointed out that there are politicians and forces in the United States who threaten American friendship cooperation/' target='_blank'>cooperation-with-israel/' target='_blank'>cooperation-with-israel/' target='_blank'>with Israel, among other things by threatening to use American aid as a means of pressure against Israel.

-In decades, we have built a broad and cross-party support for Israel. This support, which consists of both Democrats and Republicans, has stood firm regardless of who has been president. But today, this foundation is in danger of being destroyed in a way it has never been before, Kohr warned.

AIPAC is a cross-party interest group that aims to advance Israel’s interests in US policy. 18,000 delegates attend the conference. Some support the Democrats, others support the Republicans. Kohr warned – without naming anyone – that there are politicians and political movements today that threaten long-standing US support for Israel.

They say they support Israel’s right to exist, but it is not up for debate. Israel exists, the AIPAC director said before continuing to warn:

-They say they support Israel’s right to defend itself, but every time Israel defends itself, they condemn Israel. They are quick to convict Israel of the deadlock in the Middle East, but that requires two parties to be able to negotiate. The Palestinians will not even come to the negotiating table.

Kop went on to say that Israel cannot afford to have false friends.

-Let me say it bluntly: Anyone who uses his political movement to demonize Israel is not a friend of Israel, he said. to great applause from the audience.

In conclusion, the AIPAC Director thanked US President Donald Trump and his administration for all they have done for Israel. He also thanked the leading Democrats and Republicans for their many years of support for the Jewish state.

-Israel would be weaker, more isolated and more vulnerable without US support.
